·         Evaluation

My overall opinion on the show is that it was really great. I had a fun time doing the show and seeing how our piece has developed and the outcome our hard work. I personally thought what went well was during the piece is that I really understood what was I saying and why was I saying it and that for me was an issue in the previous rehearsal.

In scene one I share a scene with Cathy and in the play where supposedly good friends.in real life where close friends so we can put our own experience and our real friendship to help portray the relationship between the characters. I think what Andrea done effectively is through her body language and her subtle movements it was clear that her character has allot of attitude and theres conflict between her and Danny. During the performance andrea(cathy) done little subtitles like when Danny talked she would roll her eyes or mimic her voice what showed that she didn’t liked her and her body language was very strong.

The piece as a whole was very strong and with the costume it helped us embrace our character to the fullest as we could dress like our character. I think the idea of using props is instead of pretending to be on our phones I thought it was more effective of actually using our phone and it made the play feel more ‘naturalistic’ also I think with the prop like some groups used a cardigan to signify that the character was the same so it was also to help the audience. I also like the use of the props as ‘lou’ would fiddle with her ring and it help link with the open section and help identify who were and weren’t the same character also each item had a different significant.  The music helped keep and pace and rhythm of the opening section and also the changeover it help represent that it’s a new scene or new part of the story. I think the weakness of the play was keeping in role whilst you were at the sides. On the other hand the strengths were there was energy thought the whole performance. I would develop the scene of the flashback of when Adam is getting ask to do all these horrible stuff and actually seeing when he ‘ eats leaves ’ .overall I really enjoyed it!!!

final rehearsal

·       I think what I’m trying to say to the audience is how worried I am about the situation and that even though I seem anxious I’m secretly really scared and my character portrays herself as not being bothered and not caring but at heart she’s just a girl.

·       ‘Fine?’ – I answer that question from john Tate as I’m questioning him as if this situation is really fine which implicates how worried I am.im thinking why was I involved in this problem and I wished these weren’t my friends.my character wants from this scene is for people to hear her voice and she isn’t just telling just telling the characters and audience she scared or worried she’s telling her self.by asking others about the situation she’s also asking herself.

Rehearsal 5

To change over from Lou (me) in previous scene to Lou in scene two (Lauren) we use the symbolic ring that I have in scene one and I give it to her in the change from scene 1 to 2. I think it looks good but maybe next week can make it clearer the transition of passing the ring. I think the audience will understand from this that as all the other characters they have an object that makes the audience know that there the same character but I hope the audience can see from opening character scene thing we do and the fact that we will present out character in some similar ways but with the ring I hope it gives a more stronger meaning.

1.   I would like to know more fluently the line before my line so I know the Que.

2.   I need to adapted my tone of some of my lines to when I should be worried and when I should be angry

3.   I need to be especially aware and keeping my ground.

ΓΌ The way I can reach my targets is reading over my lines vigorously and remember the lines before mine & know who I’m talking to and why and finally knowing that I don’t have to move to get my point across that it’s much more strong kept grounded and much more strong and powerful.
i wasnt hear on rehearsal 4
i have another peer assement sheet

Rehearsal 3

·       My character always sits at the end of her chair and when standing can’t stay still she’s a little on edge, but her chest is a little pushed forward to show she is quite bold to others just not as confident around her friends as she well respected by other students at her school.my character is very priciest with the words she speaks and only speak when needed to or thinks she needs to have a input. She has a purpose when speaking and speaking with importance. When she has something that’s she needs to say she isn’t afraid to say it and often cuts in john Tate with either a statement or relevant question. Also when someone directly speaking to her e.g. john Tate who to her is someone she respects highly her voice is quiet.

·       Reflection on my rehearsal.

as usually there’s allot of time spent on scene 1 and after we go and practice our lines or scenes as a group so we don’t get to watch the other scenes as much so it was really nice to to watch the whole play as a whole piece and see how the other scenes where getting along. I found seeing the transition of Lou from scene 1 to scene 3 was interesting. I loved watching the response that my peers had to the news they heard and how they feed each other there lines and how the different ways they all responded.as being an audience member I got to feel what the characters were feeling and everyone took me on a journey. I was really impressed with Cameron as even in some aspects he didn’t have allot to say through his body language and his detailed subtle facial expression you could see at times he wasn’t bothered and fed up of ‘leahs’ voice but at other times the way he would carefully look at her with his head diagonal to listen with his left ear made me infer that he was paying attention. And for me the simplest was the most effective for me. I learnt from seeing my peers is that somewhere understanding their character and making small movement / body language / actions as their character –e.g. walking or talking as their character may talk.

i evaluated skye and daniel as like cameron they wont well and also stood out for me.

Rehearsal 1

The first official rehearsal was amazing. Today me, Lauren and packizai worked and created an imaginative and original piece to go at the start of the performance so the audience knew that we were the same character. We done a thought out piece of a small routine that Lou may do when she wakes up in the morning. We tried different ideas and trialled and error different ways of interpreting out character to the best through this opening sequence.

We started off as her sleeping and in time we would awake and do a mime of her daily actions.as there are three off us we planned out our special awareness and ensure the audience could see at least one of us as we faced out wards in separate directions.

To express Lou characteristics and her as a person we used our laid back body language .our expressions were very neutral and we walked around the space carelessly and purposefully.

Working with Lauren and packizai benefited me as it was nice to work with the same characters as me and not only device an opening piece but also talking to them I get to hear the way they’ve interpreted Lou and what they think she’s like as a character cause we all had different ideas.

Lesson 4

I was really scared about the casting workshop and i didn’t have the confidence to

Perform in front of the class but when auditioning for Lou i started to feel more comfortable.

The experience for me was really useful for me as when i was playing the character i was making decisions as the character. I read in for Lou and Danny and it was really interesting to see the contrast in their characters as Lou is more a slight shy and doesn’t have a 100% confidence and Danny who’s talkative and more confidence and knows what she wants in life but sometimes come across some insecurities’ loved observing the workshop as i go to see the way other people audition the role they wanted to play and the decision they also made aswell.also seeing some people coming out their comfort zone like Eloise i was most impressed with as when auditioning for Leah( who is a very loud and talkative character) she didn’t just know the whole monologue but she went for a character that isn’t like her in real life and it was really nice to see the contrast between characters and their actual personality. Like e.g. romy suited Lou as she’s like that in real life similarly.

I also auditioned for Lou as there wasn’t allot of people audition for Lou and there was something about the character i wanted to find about more.

Lesson 3 – truth

I think we want to create truth on stage so as an audience member we don’t want to just hear the lines being said I think we also need to feel them and believe them to fully engage with the actor/actress. Also if e.g. were imagining where in the woods and there was no visual indication where we was by the words the actors are saying and the movements we make has to be real as if we were there so we can help the audience paint a picture and take them on a journey with us.

We played a game called ‘I don’t believe you’ one of the reasons why I think we played this game was because looking at watching people do the different scenario helped me personally identify ways that can make me as a audience member understand the different aspects that helps me to take truth out what you’re saying. I think we done that game as even though I didn’t participate by watching it I learnt that my smallest of hand gestures and facial expression and by not being afraid of silence made me believe one scene tan another.

Skye
The situation Skye was entering the room from was just being told that he got cancer. I think Skye was able to show truth as when he first walked into the room by the seriousness of his face and the way he slowly but manfully walked into the room I was automatically engaged. Skye only entered the room once because we all believed him first time but I think what made him successful was the fact that he tooked simple actions like locking a door and put purpose to it.by him locking the door showed he wanted to be alone so without knowing what the situation before the room accrued we knew it was serious for he didn’t want to be observed. Also I really liked the use of silence when he sat down because for me by putting truth In a performance is using your own experience and portraying that on stage what I thought sky done well.

Non-verbal communication

Non-verbal communication is you don’t talk to a person/people but you portray you message without words.e.g though your body language you can portray your body by feeling happy with big movements and sad and lonely with small movements. Also through your facial expressions you can portray different emotions to create different moods of the scene.

We got asked to go in partners and I decided to work with someone who I don’t usually work with and I wanted to try and work with as much boys as girls. I worked with beau who comes across as a bold character and has a loud personality in theatre with is quite opposite to me. We created a scene on brake up and I was giving the bad news that we were breaking up to beau. I think we brought truth to our piece as we both experienced a brake up so we could use our own experiences to make what we shown purposefully and mean full. Also because as we wasn’t using words though our facial expressions and the feelings we trying to interpret how we would be feeling if we was in this situation came across well as we used techniques like different levels, dynamics to mimic our body language as at times we were sad and other times were angry. Another pair I thought was successful was Marley & George’s as they also done the theme of braking up in a relationship it was nice seeing them take a different approach.me and beau piece ended as beau storming to the other side after we had a ‘fight’ but Marley and Georges ended to calmly and suttly that I really like the contrast..

·         born in 1863 in Moscow, Russia, Constantin Stanislavski started working in theatre as a teen, going on to become an acclaimed thespian and director of stage productions. He co-founded the Moscow Art Theatre in 1897 and developed a performance process known as method acting, allowing actors to use their personal histories to express authentic emotion and create rich characters. He died in Moscow in 1938.

·         During the Moscow Art Theatre's early years, Stanislavski worked on providing a guiding structure for actors to consistently achieve deep, meaningful and disciplined performances. He believed that actors needed to inhabit authentic emotion while on stage and, to do so, they could draw upon feelings they'd experienced in their own lives. Stanislavski also developed exercises that encouraged actors to explore character motivations, giving performances depth and an unassuming naturalism while still paying attention to the parameters of the production. This technique would come to be known as the "Stanislavski method" or "the Method."

Subtext

We worked out the subtext for Leah monologue because allot of her monologue she repeats stuff and it was a way to work out what she meant by each line.e.g ‘I don’t want to know what you’re thinking’ subtext would be ‘I really want to know what you’re thinking and I hope it is of me’ some when Leah is saying that line through her body language and facial expression she can give the implication of her subtext it links to bringing truth on stage.

Yeah it really helped me to understand her better as she comes across quite bold and chatty but really she has this innocents and she actually cares about what people thinks of her and has this sense of insecurity about herself.
